The fretboard is available in either rosewood or maple, depending on the finish, though both options sport a synthetic bone nut. The American Performer Precision Bass also boasts a 4-saddle vintage-style bridge with steel saddles, made for keeping those heavy strings properly in tune. Cool AestheticsThe Precision Bass body is Strat-esque in its double cutaway design and comes in a number of really nice finishes, which are either gloss polyurethane or satin polyurethane. A 3-ply black/white/black pickguard covers a good portion of the body, in classic P-Bass style, extending all the way under the three knurled Flat-Top control knobs. One of the coolest aesthetic design features of this P-Bass is the Fender F light-weight vintage Paddle Key tuners with tapered shafts. It's a throwback design that always catches the eye.
